The Victory Of Constantius's Virtus

The evaluation on Constantinus has been diverse and extreme from many historians. Historians like Eusebius of Caesarea(AD 263-339) who lived in the same era with Constantinus regarded him as a savior of church or a saint while on the contrary, historian like J. C. Burckhardt regarded him as a political figure with cold blooded exercising by any mean to fulfill his ambition.

In between many controversialappraisals, the author intended to provide the fair assessment with respect to Constantinus. In order to make such fair assessment, in this article, it is required to overlook in advance the era of Constantinus lived.
Accordingly, first of all, in the 1st chapter, the author investigated political background and environment in the era Constantinus lived and growth process of Christianity, the reason why Christianity could not but accepted by the Rome Empire.
In the 2ndchapter, it is described the life of Constantinus in order to verify how the competency of Constantinus could be formed. The author divided the life of Constantinus into two parts with the Milvian Bridge War to be in the middle. That is because Constantinus could turn into dominant position in the power struggle after victory in that battle from his inferior position.
In the last chapter 3, it is described religious susceptibilities, religious tolerance, political & military capability and his vision devoid of previous Emperor.

In conclusion, through the process in writing of 3 chapters in this article, it examines how much outstanding was Constantinus to understand the current of time and Christianity and overcame with his superior capability in the midst of inferior situation in politics and military and finally unified his Empire. Finally, this article indicates as many other people thought the recognition of Christianity in AD313 is not the triumph of Christianity against Rome Empire, but the The victory of Constantinus virtus.
