Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Bio-Industrial Machinery academic program at Pusan National University is to prepare students for engineering careers that can contribute to the development of the Bio-Industry in the future.
Bio-Industrial Machinery is a bio-mechatronics-based engineering science that applies engineering technology from areas of mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer engineering to agricultural and bio-industrial systems involved in production, processing, storage, handling, packaging, and distribution.
In addition, using highly advanced technologies, i.e., Information Technology (IT), Bio Technology (BT), and Nano Technology (NT), research is focusing on improving the quality and safety of agro-products, such as fruits and vegetables, as well as natural resources, such as soil and water.
Main Research Area
The main areas of research in the program include the development of automated bio-industry machinery, bio-process engineering, automation of agricultural production systems, technology for distribution and packaging, and precision agriculture and use of information technology in agriculture.
